Darst Dermatology and Charlotte Dermatopathology are new startup practices in Charlotte North Carolina owned by Marc A Darst, M.D., F.A.A.D. Dr. Darst was first Board Certified in Family Medicine before specializing in Dermatology. In 2007, he completed his Dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern with Dr. Clay Cockerell, M.D. a world-renowned dermatopathologist.

Sensing a perfect time to relocate his family to warmer a climate, Dr Darst and his wife, Sandra, chose Charlotte, NC because of its vibrant economy, temperate weather and proximity to the beaches and mountains.

The recently completed build-out of a 4000 square foot office space includes nine large exam / surgery rooms, a UV Phototherapy room, and a 1000 square foot dermatopathology laboratory. There is office space for two additional physicians and Dr Darst plans to add another general dermatologist and a Mohs surgeon to the practice.

Dr. Darst's practice focuses on both medical and cosmetic dermatology, with an emphasis on skin cancer and melanoma. From the outset, Dr Darst decided to make the office as paperless as possible. Choosing an Electronic Medical Record was a crucial component of that decision. "It used to drive me crazy having assistants searching for charts whenever a patient called the office. Having practiced in a traditional paper chart environment as well as using several bulky enterprise versions of EMRs convinced me that I needed to find an integrated Practice Management / EMR system that was geared for a small office as well as addressing the specific needs of a dermatologist."
